For the 2017-2018 school year, the two hospitals are offering thousands of dollars in health care scholarships.

The one-year scholarships can help students to fund school expenses, including tuition, books, lab fees and educational items purchased at school facilities.

Scholarships from the two hospitals have supported students in the health care industry for more than 20 years, having cumulatively donated more than a half of a million dollars in financial assistance for educational expenses. More than $85,500 was awarded to students pursuing an advanced degree in health care during the 2016-2017 school year.

Students are encouraged to apply now until March 10, 2017 

To be eligible for the scholarships, students must be:

• An American citizen and a resident of Maricopa County;
• Pursuing 12 credit hours or more in a health care-related career;
• Planning to attend, or currently attending, an accredited college, university, community college or an accredited vocational program in Maricopa County; and
• Maintaining a current grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher.

In addition to the above requirements, other considerations for this scholarship include extra-curricular activities, volunteer activities and a written statement of academic goals.
