TEMPE, AZ – Tempe St. Luke’s Hospital and Steward Medical Group (SMG) are proud to welcome Nicholas Harrel, M.D., F.A.C.S., to the Steward Medical Group’s Surgical Specialist practice at both its Tempe and Mesa locations. 

“Dr. Harrel brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our Surgical Specialist group,” said Alicia Raschillo, Senior Practice Director with Steward Medical Group. “We are excited that Dr. Harrel is joining our already Nationally recognized Bariatric program, The Bridges Center, and that he’s bringing his expertise in Foregut treatments to our team and to the residents he will be teaching in our Mountain Vista General Surgery Residency Program.”

Dr. Harrel graduated from University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio Joe and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine and did his residency in surgery at Creighton University School of Medicine. Dr. Harrel trained in Bariatrics at Abrazo Scottsdale Campus and help establish a Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery at Abrazo. He is also a teaching professor of surgery for the Mountain Vista General Surgery Residency Program.

Dr. Harrel is a board-certified general surgeon specializing in Foregut and Bariatric procedures. Dr. Harrel is affiliated with the Bridges Center for Surgical Weight Management at Tempe St. Luke’s Hospital, which is a certified Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program center.

Dr. Harrel believes in a team approach to not just treating a disease but treating the individual. He had been recognized as a Top Doc in Phoenix and is an active Fellow in the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Harrel has clinic hours in the Steward Medical Group’s Surgical Specialist offices in Tempe and Mesa locations. The Tempe office is located on Tempe St. Luke's Hospital’s campus (1492 S. Mill Ave., Tempe, AZ 85281) in Suite 113. And the Mesa location is located on the Mountain Vista Medical Center campus (10238 E. Hampton Ave., Mesa, AZ, 85209) in Suite 301C.  He is accepting new patients.
